Update your household

Confirm household composition with the tax office early in the year; it feeds deductions on the return you file in spring.

February

Validate your invoices

Check and classify your e-Fatura invoices from last year by the second half of February to secure deductions.

April

Filing season opens

The Modelo 3 window for last year opens at the start of April. Early filing usually means an earlier refund.

June

Filing season closes

The Modelo 3 deadline lands at the end of June. Late filing brings penalties even when no tax is due.

July

Assessments arrive

The tax office issues assessment notes over the summer. Check yours against what you filed.

August

Pay any balance due

Tax owed on the annual return is generally payable by the end of August.

May / August / November

IMI property tax

Municipal property tax is billed in up to three instalments across the year, depending on the amount.
